Bulldogs Head to Cornell

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team continues Ivy League play with a visit to Cornell Saturday (2:00 p.m., ESPN+, Live Stats).
 
Last Game
Yale (8-6, 1-1 Ivy League)  shot a season-best .462 from three-point territory en route to beating Harvard 80-73 last Saturday. The Bulldogs had four players score in double digits, led by sophomore guard Elles van der Maas (Sydney, Australia). Sophomore guard Jenna Clark (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists, part of a day in which Yale had a season-high 19 assists. Sophomore guard Klara Astrom (Menlo Park, Calif.) hit three three-pointers en route to scoring 15 points, adding seven rebounds (all defensive). Junior forward Camilla Emsbo (Lakewood, Colo.) had her ninth double-double of the year: 13 points and 12 rebounds. .
 
van der Maas Honored by Ivy League 
Sophomore guard Elles van der Maas (Sydney, Australia), who scored a team-high 22 points in Saturday's 80-73 win vs. Harvard, was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday. Coming off the bench midway through the first quarter, van der Maas made an immediate impact by hitting a pair of three pointers in that quarter. van der Maas finished with six three-pointers, tied for the third-most by an Ivy Leaguer this season. Her point total doubled her previous career high, 11, set in the third game of the season.
 
Another New Starter
Last Saturday's game marked the first career start for first-year guard/forward Mackenzie Egger (Mount Pleasant, Mich.). Egger is one of eight Bulldogs who have played their first minutes for Yale this season, and the fourth to make her first career start. The other first-time starters this season are sophomore guard Klara Astrom (Menlo Park, Calif.), first-year guard Christen McCann (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and first-year forward Grace Thybulle (Irvington, N.Y.).
 
Rebounding Edge
Yale has outrebounded its opponent in 12 of 14 games this season. The Bulldogs had two games in which they had a season-high 12 rebound advantage.

Scouting Cornell
Cornell (6-7, 1-1 Ivy League) is coming off a 65-41 loss to Princeton last Saturday in Ithaca. The Big Red is second in the Ivy League in scoring defense, allowing only 57.5 points per game.
