Head of the Charles Up Next for Y150

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – October is the month for racing three-milers, and the Yale lightweights will head to Boston for the Head of the Charles to complete their fall racing slate on Sunday. This will be the Elis' second competition in October following the Head of the Housatonic earlier in the month. The Bulldogs have one entry each in the men's lightweight eight and men's lightweight four.

Since its debut in 1965, the Head of the Charles has grown to become the largest three-day regatta in the world. From Friday to Sunday, nearly 11,000 athletes will compete across more than 60 events. The headrace stretches just under three miles, beginning at Boston University's DeWolfe Boathouse and running upstream until the finish just after the Eliot Bridge.

At last year's Charles in good conditions, the Yale lightweights won the Jack Bakey Cup for men's lightweight eights with a time of 14:30.961, trailed by Cornell (14:39.750), Princeton (14:43.485) and Dartmouth (14:45.342). Two other Eli eights finished 10th and 13th respectively. In the lightweight coxed four event, Yale finished eighth.

Racing order is determined by the previous year's results. The Yale 4+ will start eighth at approximately 1:07 p.m. Half an hour later the Eli eight will kick off the competition from the DeWolfe Boathouse at 1:38 p.m.

A live stream will be available on the Head of the Charles YouTube channel. Results will be available at Regatta Central.
