DERBY, Conn. – Yale lightweight crew heads into the 2025-26 season with junior
Timmy Parsons (Eugene, Ore.) as captain and senior
Andrew Terkildsen (Lake Forest, Ill.) as commodore. The Y150 opens the 2025-26 campaign Saturday at the Head of the Housatonic.
Parsons is one of six returnees on the roster this year from last year's first varsity eight at the IRA National Championships. He was in Yale's 1V throughout last spring, helping the Bulldogs to wins over Georgetown, MIT and Navy.
Parsons has been in the 1V since his first season of racing with the Y150, 2022-23. During the fall semester of 2023, he raced in the varsity eight that placed fifth at the Head of the Charles Regatta. He then spent the spring of 2024 training through Texas Rowing Center in preparation for the USRowing Olympic Trials, where he placed third in the lightweight double.
Parsons has competed for the United States at the U23 World Rowing Championships in each of the last three years, placing fourth in the B Final (10th overall) in the men's quadruple sculls this past July. He won the B Final (seventh overall) in the lightweight single in 2024 and placed second in the C Final (14th overall) in the lightweight double in 2023.
Parsons is a graduate of South Eugene High School. He is pursuing a degree in psychology.
Terkildsen rowed in the third varsity eight that went undefeated during the regular season in 2023-24, eventually earning bronze at Eastern Sprints. He rowed in the second varsity eight at IRAs that year. In his first year he was part of a second-place finish for the fifth varsity eight at Sprints.
Terkildsen is a graduate of Lake Forest High School and is pursuing a degree in computer science. He is a midshipman with the U.S. Navy Reserve.
At the Head of the Housatonic, the Bulldogs are scheduled to have boats in the men's collegiate 8+ (9:50 a.m.), men's open 4+ (12:50 p.m.) and men's open 2-/2x (1:05 p.m.).
