NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team has thrived on the road throughout the 2022 season. The Bulldogs have posted an impressive 5-1-2 mark away from the friendly confines of Reese Stadium. They'll look to continue that success when they travel to New York City to meet Columbia on Saturday. Kickoff at Rocco Commisso Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.

Yale (6-4-3) still has its sights set on earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, but there is little margin for error. The Bulldogs currently sit at No. 48 in the national RPI but winning their final three games would include a victory over Cornell, which is at No. 8 in the RPI. Their strong record away from home would only enhance their case.

Yale is coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Harvard last Saturday at Reese. The Crimson scored the winning goal with just 26 seconds left in the second half. Eric Lagos scored for the Bulldogs.

Paolo Carroll continues to be among the Ivy leaders in scoring. He is tied for second with seven goals and fourth with 15 points. Three of Carroll's goals have been game winners, which is also tied for second in the league.

Goalkeeper Elian Haddock is second in the league with 45 saves.

Yale is playing at Columbia for the third straight season. The Bulldogs beat the Lions 3-1 last fall and won 2-0 in the 2019 Ivy championship season.

SCOUTING COLUMBIA

The Lions (1-7-5, 0-1-3 Ivy) closed non-conference play with a 3-0 loss at La Salle on Tuesday. Columbia could have a say in who wins the Ivy title. The Lions wrap up the season with games against first-place Penn on Nov. 5 and second-place Cornell on Nov. 12. Columbia has scored just seven goals on the season. Joao Lima leads the team with two. Columbia's defense, though, has been stingy in Ivy games, allowing just three goals in its four league games.
