NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team has shown it can succeed away from home this season. The Bulldogs have an impressive victory at West Virginia and draws at Rutgers and at No. 4 Duke on their resume. They hope those results have prepared them well for their first Ivy trip of the season, a matchup with defending champion Princeton on Saturday in New Jersey. Kickoff at Roberts Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.
Â
Yale (4-1-3, 0-1 Ivy) is anxious to return to the pitch after falling 2-1 to Penn in its Ivy opener last weekend at Reese Stadium.
Kahveh Zahiroleslam scored to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at 21:22, but Penn answered less than three minutes later and then scored the game winner midway through the second half.
Â
Paolo Carroll remains tied for the Ivy lead with five goals, while
Max Rogers is tied for sixth with three assists. Rogers was dangerous last Saturday against the Quakers, getting off three shots which led the team.
Â
Elian Haddock has played every minute of every game in goal for Yale and leads the league with 30 saves.
Â
The Bulldogs, who have lost only once on the season, received six votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches national poll. Yale is one of three Ivy teams to appear. Cornell is ranked No. 22, while Penn received nine votes.

SCOUTING PRINCETON
Â
The Tigers (4-3-1, 1-0 Ivy) opened league play with a 1-0 win at Dartmouth. Princeton took advantage of an early red card issued to Dartmouth's starting goalkeeper and dominated the pace of play the rest of the way. The Tigers had a 14-1 edge in shots, and 8-0 advantage in shots on goal, and a 14-5 edge in corner kicks. The game's lone goal was a header from Walker Gillespie in the 56th minute off a corner. Princeton has won its last eight Ivy League matches dating back to the start of the 2021 Ancient Eight season. The Tigers are outscoring ivy opponents, 17-5 over their last eight ivy games with four shutouts.
