Yale vs. McGill
Saturday, Oct. 8 – 3 p.m.
Ingalls Rink (New Haven, Conn.)
The Yale women's ice hockey team is set to take the ice for the first time in the 2022-23 season when it hosts Canada-based, McGill University, on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Ingalls Rink.Â
Thoughts from Coach
"Our team is really looking forward to this upcoming season to try and build momentum off a tremendous finish last year", said
Mark Bolding, Susan Cavanagh Head Coach. "The expectations are high for this group, but they have put in the work and trained hard in the off-season and are ready to go."
"We have some big shoes to fill the departure of five terrific seniors and great leadership from
Greta Skarzynski, Bolding continued. "But with our captain
Claire Dalton and the upperclassman now fresh off a great playoff run and NCAA experience, we are up for the challenge. There are some promising first year players who joined us this fall that should be solid college players once they get some competition under their belts. We can't wait to get started and look forward to proving ourselves and grow as a team".
Returning to the Fold
Yale returns seven of their top eight scorers from the 2021-22 season. Senior captain
Claire Dalton heads the squad consisting of 33 players and features 18 forwards, 12 blueliners, and three goalies.
Notable Returns
- On offense, the team returns leading scorer and point-getter Elle Hartje, who had a team-high 16 goals and 35 assists for a total of 51 points last season.
- On defense, reigning ECAC Defenseman of the Year, All-America and All-Conference selection, Emma Seitz, returns as a mainstay on the blueline for the Bulldogs. Seitz posted 14 goals last season, the most of any Yale defenseman in school history and led the ECAC in goals for defensemen.
- The Bulldogs also have Pia Dukaric returning in goal. Dukaric started in 12 games last season and sported a .929 save percentage in 15 total games played. Â
Recapping Last Season
Yale had a storied run during the 2021-22 season with its first-ever trip to the Frozen Four, which saw them face Ohio State in the semifinal, and a run to the ECAC Championship final against Colgate. The Bulldogs also had a program-best record of 26-8-1 heading into the Frozen Four.
Upcoming Slate
The Elis will host Brown and Princeton on Oct. 15 for a pair of scrimmages at Ingalls Rink. The squad opens the regular season with back-to-back road games at Harvard on Oct. 28 and Dartmouth on Oct. 29.
