Four Bulldogs Named to Inside Lacrosse Top-50 Players for 2023

Johnson, Paquette, Stuzin, Brandau Recognized

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale men's lacrosse is well represented on Inside Lacrosse's list of the Top-50 Players for 2023. Four Bulldogs were selected – Leo Johnson at No. 49, Jared Paquette at No. 48, Jack Stuzin at No. 30 and Matt Brandau at No. 6.

Johnson, a sophomore attack, made an immediate impact in his first season. He started all 17 games and was second on the team in goals (35), assists (29) and points (64). In Yale's first round NCAA Tournament victory over Saint Joseph's, he scored four goals and added two assists. He was part of a first-year class that scored more than 100 goals, the most in the country.

Paquette, a junior goalie, started all 17 games a year ago and finished fifth in the Ivy League with 12.35 saves per game and sixth with a .517 save percentage. His 226 saves were the third most in a single season in school history. He stopped a season-high 20 shots in the NCAA Tournament game against Princeton.

Stuzin, a junior long stick midfielder, appeared in 16 games and was second on the team with 45 ground balls. He also contributed four goals and two assists.

Brandau, a senior attack, ranked second in the nation in points per game last spring and was a candidate for the Tewaarton Award. He earned multiple All-America honors and was a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection. His 99 points tied Jason O'Neill (1990) for second in a season all-time at Yale. Over the summer, he represented Team USA in the World Games.

The Bulldogs are coming off another memorable season. Yale finished with a 12-5 record, earned a share of the Ivy League title and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
