The Yale women's tennis team opened play at the ECAC Indoor Championship with a hard-fought 4-2 loss to Columbia.
 
The Bulldogs took the doubles point. Chelsea Kung and Jessie Gong teamed up to defeat Columbia's Akanksha Bhan and Anna Zhang (Col) 6-4 at the No. 1 position. At No. 2, Yale's duo of Caroline Dunleavy and Kathy Wang won a thrilling match that was decided in a tiebreaker.
 
In singles, Rhea Shrivastava earned Yale a point, posting a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Columbia's Clarine Lerby at No. 4.
 
The Bulldogs will now meet Cornell, who fell 4-0 to No. 1 seed Princeton, on Saturday at 8 a.m.
