The No. 10 ranked Yale women's fencing team posted an impressive 15-12 victory over No. 4 Cornell on the opening day of the Ivy League Round Robin at Brown. The Bulldogs, though, fell to No. 5 Harvard, No. 3 Columbia and No. 1 Princeton by identical 18-9 scores.
Individually,
Emme Zhou posted an 8-4 record in her bouts and sits in fourth place in foil. Two other Bulldogs are in the top-10 in foil –
Helen Tan (ninth) and
Erica Hooshi (10
th).
In saber,
Sydney Hirsch is in sixth place after splitting her 12 bouts, while
Stephanie Cao is tied for eighth place.
In epee,
Joy Ma is in the sixth place and
Christina Zozulya is in seventh place.
The tournament concludes on Sunday. The Bulldogs face Brown at 11:15 a.m. and Penn at 1 p.m.
