YALE GAME NOTES
Â
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale Men's Ice Hockey Team completes its regular-season home schedule this weekend by hosting Union and RPI at Ingalls Rink on Friday and Saturday (Senior Night). Both 7 p.m. puck drops air live on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.
SERIES
The Elis swept both Capital District teams a few weeks ago in New York. Yale, which won four of five – playoffs included - against Union in 2019-20, has a 30-27-5 edge in the series since the first game in 1991-92, the year the Dutchmen replaced Army in ECAC Hockey. The Bulldogs and Engineers first played in 1908-09 and RPI has a 56-50-6 lead.
Â
LAST MEETINGS
Teddy Wooding scored in overtime at Messa Rink as the Blue took a 3-2 decision against the Dutchmen on Jan. 22. The night before,
Ian Carpentier had two goals and an assist in Yale's 5-3 win at Houston Field House.
Â
BULLDOGS
These are the last home regular-season games for seniors
Kyle Johnson,
Justin Pearson and
Graham Lillibridge. The three will be honored prior to puck drop on Saturday night. Five of Yale's last six games have been one-goal decisions, and the banged-up Bulldogs have come so close to taking all those games. With five games left in the regular season, Yale has an opportunity to move into a home playoff spot for the first round of conference playoffs. Carpentier, a sophomore, leads the team with eight goals and 11 points, while classmate
Nathan Reid (2.72, .902) has four of the wins in net.
DUTCHMEN
Union brings a 10-16-3 (7-10-1 ECAC, 8th) record into the Whale on Friday after home losses to Colgate and Cornell last weekend. The Dutchmen, who won four games in January, last tasted victory at Princeton (7-3) on Feb. 5, a night after skating to a one-goal decision at No. 4 Quinnipiac.
Â
ENGINEERS
RPI (13-18-3, 8-10-0, 6th) beat No. 18 Cornell 6-2 last weekend at Troy before falling to Colgate the next night 3-2. The Engineers, who take on Brown Friday, have split their last six games, including a 2-0 win at Harvard a few weeks ago.
