NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 2022 CSA Team Championships begin this weekend at the University of Pennsylvania facilities in Philadelphia where Yale will compete in the Potter Cup (A Division).
In the first round, No. 4 Yale will face off against No. 5 Princeton on Friday at 2:00 PM. The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers in a crucial match earlier in the season by a score of 6-3. The other matchups include No. 1 Penn vs. No. 8 Drexel, No. 2 Harvard vs No. 7 Virginia, and No. 3 Trinity vs No. 6 Columbia.
Yale, 9-3 overall and 5-2 in Ivy play, is coming off an impressive regular season. Putting up particularly strong numbers were first-years All-Ivy pickÂ
Max Forster (7-4, 6-1 IVY),
Maxwell Orr (8-3, 4-2 IVY), and
Brian Leonard (9-3, 5-2 IVY) as well as sophomore
Siow Yee Xian (10-2, 5-2 IVY) and junior
Eric Kim (9-1, 5-1 IVY).
In the last CSA Championships in 2020, the Bulldogs fell to No. 3 Penn and No. 7 Virginia before defeating No. 8 Drexel in the consolation bracket.
