BOSTON, Mass. - The No. 5 Bulldogs defeated No. 4 Columbia in a tight, 5-4 match in the first round of the Howe Cup, the top division of the CSA Nationals. Yale avenged its loss earlier in the season.

The bottom of the Elis lineup shined in the match, with No. 4 Gigi Yeung, No. 5 Megnha Sreedhar, No. 7 Aishwarya Bhattacharya, No. 8 Lindsay Westerfield, and No. 9 Nina Mital all notching decisive victories. No. 3 Christy Lau and No. 6 Brianna Jefferson fell in tight five-game matches to strong opponents.

Yale will face top-seeded Harvard, who defeated Penn 9-0 this afternoon, tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the semifinals.
