BOSTON, Mass. — In the third-place contest at the CSAs this afternoon, the Elis narrowly fell to the Bantams by a score of 6-3 to secure fourth place in the Howe Cup.
No. 5 Meghna Sreedhar,
No. 6 Brianna Jefferson, and
No. 9 Nina Mital all scored victories for the Bulldogs. Sreedhar, after surrendering her first game 11-3, came back to win three consecutive games and defeat her Trinity counterpart. Jefferson and Mital both handily swept their opponents in under 30 minutes.
Two key matches at the No. 3 and No. 8 seeds nearly went the Elis' way.
No. 3 Christy Lau went back and forth with her opponent in the longest match of the afternoon (56 minutes) before losing in 5.
No. 8 Lindsay Westerfield also fell in a tight five-game match. After losing the first game, she came back to win two in a row before ultimately surrendering the final two games.
After a strong season and an impressive fourth place finish, the Bulldogs now turn their attention to the singles championships, which take place in Philadelphia March 4–6..
