Weimer Named Assistant Coach

Former Penn State and pro star joins staff full time

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Tiffany Weimer, a former Penn State and professional soccer star player, has joined the Yale Coaching Staff as a full-time member.

Weimer, named an assistant coach, has been an operations director and a volunteer coach for the Bulldogs in recent years.

"This is a really exciting day for our program. Tiff is one of the most highly sought-after coaches in the women's game and someone I have always valued and trusted. She has played at the highest levels and loves the game more than anyone I have met," said Sarah Martinez, Yale's Loring Family Head Coach. "As a coach, Tiff has an incredible way to still think like a player which allows us to grow and develop our sessions to get the most out of each one of our student-athletes. While she is a familiar face on our sidelines, I am fired up to have her more involved in our day to day, recruiting efforts, and lead much of our player development planning"

Weimer helped lead the Nittany Lions to a pair of appearances in the NCAA Final Four and was a two-time runner up for the Hermann Trophy, awarded to the top player in college soccer. She is the all-time Big Ten leader in goals with 91, which puts her in the top 10 all-time in NCAA history. In 2006, she was the recipient of the Suzy Favor Award as the Big Ten Athlete of the Year and was a three-time first team All-America selection.

"Finding people I enjoy working with has always been a top priority in my life," said Weimer. "Sarah is one of the best people and hardest workers I know. I am grateful to join her staff full time."

Following graduation, Weimer played 12 years of professional soccer, living in six different countries (Sweden, Denmark, Brazil, Canada, USA, Finland) and six different cities (Kansas City, Boston, Portland, Vancouver, San Jose and D.C.) throughout North America.

Weimer, who attained her USSF B License in 2021, is the Co-Founder of Duktig Brand, an innovative soccer brand creating soccer-specific products for the soccer community. She also founded a women's soccer magazine called "Our Game."

Weimer completed two degrees, journalism from Penn State University (2006) and a Master's in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University (2019).

"Having worked with this program over the last couple of years I have developed great relationships with the players. I'm excited to be more involved day to day to help guide their individual development while we work toward winning Ivy League championships," said Weimer.
