PURCHASE, N.Y.  – The Yale Men's Golf Team is Ivy League Champions for the 21
st time after shooting a 306 on a windy day at the Century Country Club and holding on to a lead it had from the start of the three-day event.
Led by first-year
Ben Carpenter's 218, which earned him medalist honors, the Bulldogs shot 292-289-306 for an 887, which was five strokes better than second-place Columbia.
This is Yale's first team title since 2018 (no championship was held in 2020 and 2021) and the third straight championship the Elis have had the top player.
Eoin Leonard won it in 2018 followed by
James Nicholas in 2019.
Carpenter, who started the final round with a pair of birdies and had three overall today, shot 72-71-75 to win by two over Mark Haghani from Penn. Yale sophomore
Gabriel Ruiz and first-year teammate
Blake Brantley tied for sixth with 222 totals, while senior
Darren Lin was 14
th at 226.
Yale Head Coach
Colin Sheehan '97, who won his third league championship, will have his team playing in the NCAA Regional hosted by the Yale Golf Course on May 16-18.
