NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team wraps up the season with a three-game series at Penn this weekend. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 2 p.m. and a single game on Sunday with the first pitch slated for 12:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs (8-10 Ivy), with a sweep of the series, would finish with their most Ivy League wins since 2009.

Yale is coming off a strong series at home vs. Cornell. The Bulldogs won two of the three games, including a 10-9 victory in the series finale when they rallied from an 8-1, fifth-inning deficit. Miranda Papes had a big weekend, batting .556 and belting a pair of long home runs. For her efforts, she was named the Ivy League Player of the Week.

Yale has hit 22 home runs this season, which is second in the Ivy League. First year Maddie Latta leads the way with six, but it has been a balanced effort. Eight different Bulldogs have gone deep at least once.

Carolyn Skotz enters the weekend with an impressive streak of reaching base in each of her last 17 games, the longest of the season by a Bulldog.

In the circle, Latta is coming off a strong weekend. She was the winning pitcher in each of two victories over Cornell and tossed a total of 12.1 innings without allowing an earned run.

SCOUTING PENN

It's been a busy stretch for the Quakers, who were forced to play a mid-week three games series with Dartmouth. Penn (10-30, 5-13 Ivy) has lost its last six games. Bella Fiorentino leads the Quaker offense with a .313 average.  Sarah Schneider has a team-high 36 hits, 31 runs scored, 11 doubles, nine home runs, and 11 stolen bases. Fiorentino and Schneider are tied for the most RBI with 20 on the season. Olivia Szewczyk leads the Penn pitching with a 4.20 ERA in 33.1 innings pitched.
