Yale Softball Earns Five CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Five members of the Yale softball team have earned 2026 Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognizing their excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
 
Senior Emma Taylor, juniors Kaitlyn Oikle and Elena Ohe and sophomores Ella Cross and Ella Gandolfo were named to the list.
 
The Academic All-District® Softball Teams honor the nation's top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic achievements.
  • Emma Taylor, an environmental studies major, served as Yale's primary starting pitcher. She made 22 starts, including eight complete games and two shutouts, throwing 106.2 innings.
  • Kaitlyn Oikle appeared in 37 games, recorded the fewest strikeouts by a qualified player on the team. Oikle was also Yale's 2026 Academic All-Ivy Honoree.
  • Elena Ohe, a neuroscience major, started 41 of Yale's 44 games in the infield, delivering timely hitting throughout the season.
  • Ella Cross, a molecular, cellular and developmental biology major, appeared in 39 games for the Bulldogs, becoming one of four players this season to have a batting average above .300.
  • Ella Gandolfo, also a neuroscience major, started in 43 of Yale's 44 games, providing a reliable defensive presence in the Bulldog outfield.
 
About the Award
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the Academic All-America® program is the nation's longest running and most prestigious award honoring excellence in both academics and athletics across all NCAA divisions, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions.
 
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® selections are announced year-round and amplified by CSC member institutions across local, regional, national, and international platforms.
 
The program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA.
 
Eligibility Criteria
  • Undergraduate student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Graduate students must meet the 3.50 GPA standard for both undergraduate and graduate coursework, unless in their first semester of graduate school. GPAs may not be rounded up.
  • Nominees must compete in at least 90% of their team's games or start in at least 66% of them.
  • For pitchers: a minimum of 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched is required.

Formerly known as CoSIDA, College Sports Communicators is the second-oldest management association in intercollegiate athletics. It rebranded in August 2022 to reflect its broader role in strategic communications, creative content, and media relations across college sports.
