NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team is back on the road for its next two games. The Bulldogs travel to Milwaukee to meet Marquette on Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT and then cross Long Island Sound to face Stony Brook on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Â
Yale (2-0-2) has been off since its 1-0 victory over Villanova last Sunday. The Bulldogs have won two straight games as they knocked off No. 10 West Virginia 2-1 on Sept. 9.
Â
Max Rogers, who scored the winning goal against West Virginia, was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week and the Ivy League Honor Roll for his performances.
Â
Yale had a number of deserving candidates for honors.
Kai Moos scored the game-winning goal in the victory over Villanova, his first career goal, and goalkeeper
Elian Haddock was outstanding, making six saves, most with a high degree of difficulty, to post the shutout.
The trip to Wisconsin is a homecoming for Elian and his brother
Jeremy Haddock, who are from Whitefish Bay, Wis. The two starred for Whitefish Bay High school, which enjoyed tremendous success during their careers.
Â
Yale is in the midst of three straight road games. The Bulldogs are at Duke on Sept. 27 before returning to the friendly confines of Reese Stadium to host Penn in the Ivy opener on Oct. 1.
Â
SCOUTING MARQUETTE
Â
The Golden Eagles (3-2) saw their three-game winning streak, which included a victory over Michigan, snapped with a 4-2 loss at Wisconsin on Monday. Marquette has scored 14 goals in its five games. Seven different players have goals, led by Abdoul Karim Pare and Zyan Andrade, who each have three. The Golden Eagles were picked to finish seventh in the Big East preseason coaches' poll.
Â
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
Â
The Seawolves (3-3) host William & Mary before Yale visits Lavalle Stadium on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be the second Ivy League opponent for Stony Brook, who beat Columbia 2-1 on Sept. 6. The Seawolves are in their first season competing as a member of the Colonial Athletic Conference.
