HAMILTON, N.Y. – First year
Will Lodge recorded a five-under (211) and led the Yale men's golf program, the defending Ivy League champion, to a second-place finish at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial at Seven Oaks Golf Course on the campus of Colgate University.
As a team, the Bulldogs carded an 11-under par (853) – second only to Seton Hall, the reigning BIG EAST champion, which won the tournament by 12 strokes with a 23-under (841). The Pirates'
Wanxi Sun earned individual medalist honors with an 11-under (205), including a five-under 67 in the opening round on Saturday.
Lodge tied for third in the 91-player field after carding a personal-best 69 (-3) in Sunday's final round. The Bulldogs had five players finish in the top-20, including senior
Sho Wai Wu who tied for 11
th with even-par (216) over three rounds this weekend.
Sophomores
Blake Brantley and
Ben Carpenter tied for 15
th with a one-over (217), while junior
Gabriel Ruiz tied for 18
th at two-over (218). Brantley tied for second among all golfers with 41 pars in the 54-hole tournament. Second-year player
Robert You tied for 46
th at eight-over (224) to complete the list of team results for the Elis.
First year
Sam Davis competed as an individual and tied for 11
th with Wai Wu at even-par (216). Davis tied for a tournament-best in par-3 scoring at two-under (2.83 shots on average per hole).
The Elis outpaced third-place Rhode Island (+4) by 15 strokes, while Lafayette (+8) and Villanova (+8) rounded-out the top five teams in the final results.
