With six games left in the regular season, the nationally ranked Yale women's hockey team hits the road for the first of a four-game road trip. Friday's stop will be in Schenectady, N.Y. for a meeting with the Union before heading to Troy, N.Y. to face RPI. Both contests will be live on ESPN+ and available for international viewing on Stretch Internet.
 
Bulldog Bytes

  • Yale's (21-1-1, 14-1-1 ECAC) win streak continued with its 13th-straight on Jan. 28 against Clarkson.
  • Claire Dalton continues to bring the heat for the Bulldogs. Last weekend, she extended her point streak to five-games, and picked up four points in the two games. Additionally, in the last five games, she has five goals and four assists. Two of her goals were game winners against Brown and Princeton.  
  • Elle Hartje has been another Bulldog riding a hot streak with points in her last nine games. The junior has 15 points from five goals and 10 assists. Both of her game-winning goals in that stretch were in both meetings against St. Lawrence.


In the NCAA

  • Yale's go-to in goal, Pia Dukaric, is second in the nation in save percentage (.950), second in goals against average (1.116), and tied for third in shutouts (7).
  • Elle Hartje is seventh in assists per game (.96).
  • As a team, Yale is second in penalty kill percentage (.925) behind Sacred Heart (.933).

In the ECAC Standings

  • Yale is currently in first place in the conference, ahead of Quinnipiac by 2.5 points.
  • RPI and Union sit in ninth and 10th place, respectively, in the standings.


Notables

  • Pia Dukaric was named a 2023 National Goalie of the Year Semifinalist by the Hockey Commissioners Association. She was one of three ECAC Hockey goalies alongside RPI's Amanda Rampado and Clarkson's Michelle Pasiechnyk.
  • Carina DiAntonio and Jordan Ray were named to the 2023 National Rookie of the Year "Watch List" by the Hockey Commissioners Association.
  • Claire Dalton's 26 points this season put her at 123 career points, which is second all-time in program history.


Last Meeting with Union
This will be the second meeting this season between these two teams. They first met on Dec. 10, 2022, at Ingalls Rink as the Bulldogs captured a 6-1 victory. Yale had six different goal scorers, while Pia Dukaric and Courtney DeNaut combined for 11 total saves.
 
Scouting the Dutchwomen

  • Union (11-16-1, 4-11-1 ECAC) is 1-4 in its last five games.
  • In their last outing, they fell 3-1 to RPI in the Capital District Mayors Cup.
  • National Rookie of the Year finalist Riley Walsh has led the charge for Union on the scoresheet. Walsh has a team-leading 19 points, including 13 goals and six assists, four game-winning goals and three overtime goals.
  • Sophie Matsoukas has started 28 games for Union this season. The sophomore has a .911 save percentage and a 3.08 goals against average.


Last Meeting with RPI
The pair squared off on Dec. 9, 2022, as Yale blanked RPI, 3-0, at Ingalls Rink. Elle Hartje, Jordan Ray, and Anna Bargman were the goal scorers as Pia Dukaric made 10 saves in between the pipes.

 
Scouting the Engineers

  • RPI (9-18-1, 4-11-1 ECAC) are 4-1 in its last five games including wins over St. Lawrence (2-0), Dartmouth (2-1), and Union (2-1, 3-1).
  • Ellie Kaiser leads the team in points (20), goals (10), assists (10), and game-winning goals (3).
  • National Goalie of the Year semifinalist Amanda Rampado will most likely be in net for the Engineers come Saturday. Rampado has started 28 games, has a .930 save percentage and five shutouts.
     

Up Next
Next weekend will be a big test for Yale as they travel to face Colgate and Cornell on the road.
