NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It's back on the road for the Yale men's lacrosse team. The Bulldogs, coming off a 13-11 loss to Penn State in their home opener on Saturday, travel to UMass. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved to Friday at 1 p.m. due to an unfavorable forecast in Amherst, Mass.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
* Yale fell to No. 13 in the Inside Lacrosse national poll and is No. 11 in the USILA Coaches poll. UMass is receiving votes in both polls.
* The Bulldogs nearly pulled off a big comeback in last Saturday's home opener. Yale trailed 8-1 after the first quarter and outscored the Nittany Lions in the remaining three quarters, but the rally came up just short. The weather conditions made the game a challenge for both teams. A light snow fell for much of the afternoon and the temperature was in the mid-20s.
* Yale has been outscored 15-5 in the first quarter in two games.

Chris Lyons scored four goals to pace the Bulldogs against Penn State, giving him 13 for the season, which leads the Ivy League. His 6.5 goals per game leads the nation.

Matt Brandau extended his streak of consecutive games with a goal to 42, the longest active streak in the nation. Brandau currently sits at 199 career points (122 goals, 77 assists).
* Three Bulldogs sit in the Ivy League's top 10 in assists. Brandau and
Leo Johnson are tied for third with five, while
Carson Kuhl is tied for ninth with four.

Jared Paquette leads the league in saves per game (15).
* Last year at Reese Stadium, Brandau scored with 39 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Bulldogs to a thrilling a 13-12 win over the Minutemen. Brandau finished with three goals and three assists.
SCOUTING UMASS
The Minutemen (2-1) are coming off a 12-6 loss to Boston University last Saturday. UMass opened the season with wins over Army (10-8) and UMass Lowell (11-3). Goalie Matt Knote has made double-digit saves in all three games. Knote was named USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Player of the Week after making 19 saves in the season-opening win over Army. Gabriel Procyk leads UMass in goals (6) and points (10). Carter Castillo has a team-best eight assists. Caleb Hammett has won 20-of-43 face offs. UMass was picked third in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
