NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's lacrosse team is back on the road Saturday, traveling to New Jersey to meet Princeton in an important Ivy League game. The opening faceoff at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium is set for 1 p.m.

*Â Both Yale and Princeton are coming off losses in their Ivy openers last weekend. The Bulldogs fell to Cornell, while the Tigers were edged by Penn in overtime.

* Â The Bulldogs (3-2, 0-1 Ivy) are 2-0 away from the friendly confines of Reese Stadium, posting dominant wins over Villanova, 20-14, and UMass, 18-9. Villanova is up to No. 7 in both national polls and hasn't lost since falling to Yale on Feb. 19.

*Â Yale is No. 12 in both the Inside Lacrosse and USILA Coaches polls. The Tigers sit at No. 20.

* Â The Bulldogs are seventh in the nation in opponent clear percentage (,789) and fewest turnovers per game (13.80).

Jared Paquette is third in the nation in saves per game (15.20), while
Chris Lyons is second in goals per game (4.20) and
Matt Brandau is ninth in points per game (5.0).

*Â Brandau enters the game with 130 career goals, which is fifth all-time at Yale and three behind Conrad Oberbeck (2012-2015). Brandau's 84 career assists are seventh in school history and his 214 career points are third. He has scored at least one goal in all 45 games he has played at Yale, the longest active streak in the nation.

Leo Johnson, who scored three goals last Saturday vs. the Big Red, was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.

*Â Yale has outscored its opponents in three of four quarters (23-13 in the second, 18-9 in the third, 16-14 in the fourth) but has been outscored 29-13 in the first quarter.

*Â Yale and Princeton met twice last season. Brandau scored five goals and added three assists in the Bulldogs 14-12 regular season victory at Reese Stadium. The teams met again in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, and the Tigers posted a 14-10 win at Hofstra. Princeton's NCAA win snapped Yale's six-game winning streak in the series.

The Tigers (2-4, 0-1 Ivy) are coming off overtime losses to No. 6 Rutgers and then to No. 15 Penn. Princeton has dropped four straight overall, all to nationally ranked opponents. Princeton ranks ninth in the nation with 14.83 saves per game, and it's been two goalies that have led the way as Griffen Rakower and Michael Gianforcaro have split time. Coulter Mackesy (19) and Alexander Vardaro (13) have combined to score 32 of the Tigers' 72 goals on the season.Â
