NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's lacrosse team takes a break from Ivy League play to host Boston University on Tuesday at Reese Stadium. The opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
Â
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Â
* Tuesday is the first of three straight home games for the Bulldogs, who host Dartmouth on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Brown on Apr. 15 at noon.
Â
* Yale is coming off a heartbreaking 17-16 loss at Penn on Saturday. The Quakers scored the game-winning goal with 1:17 left in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs nearly tied it in the final seconds, but Emmet Carroll made a terrific save to rob
Matt Brandau.
Â
* BU played Friday night, falling 10-8 at Navy.
Â
*
Leo Johnson was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. Johnson scored four goals and added two assists against the Quakers on Saturday.
Â
* Two Bulldogs are in the top 10 in the Ivy League in points per game. Brandau sits at No. 6 (4.29), while
Chris Lyons is ninth (3.86).
Â
* Lyons remains second in the nation in goals per game (4.17). He has 26 goals on the season and picked up his first assist on Saturday against the Quakers.
Â
*
Thomas Bragg is second in the league with three man-up goals.
Â
* The Bulldogs were 3-of-6 on extra man opportunities against Penn on Saturday. Yale has scored five extra man goals in its last two games.
Â
* Second quarters have been the Bulldogs' most productive of the season. Yale is outscoring its opponent 32-24 in the second.
Â
* Six of Yale's seven opponents this season are nationally ranked. The Bulldogs have victories over No. 10 Villanova and No. 17 Denver and have fallen to No. 4 Cornell, No. 8 Penn State, No. 14 Penn and No. 14 Princeton.
Â
* Brandau, who was named to Inside Lacrosse's Midseason All-America team last week, continues to climb in the Yale record books. He scored three goals against Penn on Saturday, giving 133 for his career which is tied with Conrad Oberbeck (2012-15) for third in school history. Next up is Matt Gaudet (2017-20), who scored 142 goals. Brandau's 86 career assists are the seventh most all-time at Yale. He is three behind Mike Devlin (1979-82) and Tyler Casertano (2005-08), who both had 89. Brandau's 219 career points are third in school history. He needs just two more to pass Jackson Morrill (2017-20) to move into second place.
Â
* Last year in Boston, the Bulldogs outscored the Terriers 11-1 in the second quarter on their way to a 22-15 victory.
Chris Lyons scored six goals and added two assists to lead the way.

SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Â
The Terriers (7-2, 4-1 America East) saw their seven-game winning streak snapped in Friday's loss to Navy. Yale is the second Ivy League opponent for BU, which beat Harvard 15-11 on Mar. 21.
