NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale field hockey team hits the road for a pair of games this weekend. That includes a visit to Penn Friday (3:00 p.m.,

Live Stats) that marks the start of Ivy League play. The Bulldogs then return to Connecticut and play at local rival Quinnipiac Sunday (12:00 p.m.,
Quinnipiac All-Access).
LAST WEEKEND
Yale (2-4, 0-0 Ivy League) split a pair of weekend home games, falling to Fairfield
2-1 on Friday and bouncing back to
beat Sacred Heart 3-1 on Sunday.
CAPTAIN KIM
Senior forward/midfielder
Ashley Kim (Fredericksburg, Va.) scored her first two goals of the season Sunday in the 3-1 win vs. Sacred Heart. That included the first game-winner of her career. Kim, elected Yale's 2023 captain by her teammates, has six career goals.
SEASON HIGH IN SHOTS
Yale had a season-high 20 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win vs. Sacred Heart. That was the most shots in a game for the Bulldogs since having 22 shots in a 2-1 win at Colgate Sept. 16, 2022.
ROAD WARRIORS
The two road games this weekend mark the start of a stretch in which Yale will play five of six games on the road. The lone home game in that 25 day span is Sept. 29 vs. No. 15 Harvard.
VENTER, WHITTINGTON NOTCH FIRST POINTS
A pair of Bulldogs got their first career points this past weekend. First-year back/midfielder
Hettie Whittington (Oxshott, Surrey, England) had an assist in each game, while sophomore forward/midfielder
Lauren Venter (Knysna, Western Cape, South Africa) assisted on the game-winning goal Sunday.

IRON WOMEN

Luanna Summer (St. Louis, Mo.) has extended her streak of consecutive games started to 42, dating back to the start of the 2021 season. Junior back
Keely Comizio (New Vernon, N.J.) has the longest starting streak on the team among field players. She has started 35 straight games, dating back to her first career start Sept. 25, 2021.
SUMMER IN TOP FIVE NATIONALLY

Luanna Summer (St. Louis, Mo.) is fifth nationally and first in the Ivy League in saves per game (7.17).
ALUM WEEKEND
The Bulldogs hosted Alum Weekend last weekend, with alums invited back and recognized at both games. In addition to other events for alums, families and friends, the weekend marked the debut of the Celebrating Yale Field Hockey at 50 Years video, produced by

AROUND THE IVY LEAGUE
Four teams started Ivy play last weekend, with No. 15 Harvard beating Dartmouth 4-0 in Cambridge and Cornell winning at Columbia 3-1. This weekend's league games include a full slate on Friday:

SCOUTING PENN
Penn (2-4, 0-0 Ivy League) has gone 0-3 against ranked teams and 2-1 against unranked teams so far this season. The Bulldogs
won the last meeting between these two teams, 3-2 in overtime on a goal by
Alissa Wong '22. The Quakers finished in a tie for third in the Ivy League standings last year with a 4-3 Ivy record.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
Quinnipiac (3-2, 0-0 Big East) has won three in a row, outsourcing its opponents 8-3 in that span. Yale
beat the Bobcats 2-1 in overtime last year on a goal by junior midfielder/forward
Ellie Barlow (Dunmow, Essex, England). The Bulldogs have won three of the last four in the series, with the last three (and 11 of the last 13 meetings between these two teams) all decided by one goal. Nina Klein, who won three national championships as a goalkeeper at UConn, is in her first season as the Bobcats' head coach.
