UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Yale men's fencing team won four of five matchups on Sunday at the Penn State Invitational. The Bulldogs faced an incredibly tough slate, taking down three opponents ranked in the SPI top-15.
Yale defeated North Carolina (ranked No. 14), Penn State (No. 7), Penn (No. 8), and Haverford. The team's lone defeat came against Columbia (No. 2).
The Bulldogs vanquished Penn State in the first round of the day, narrowly defeating the Nittany Lions 14-13. They followed up with a 16-11 victory over UNC.Â
In round three, Yale squared off with Ivy League rival, Penn. Prior to the event, the two teams split the six-match series against each other dating back to 2020. But the Bulldogs got the best of the Quakers on Sunday, winning 20-7. Yale was particularly impressive in the saber, dominating 9-0.
Following a 16-11 loss to Columbia, the Bulldogs wrapped up the event with a victory over Haverford.

Jordan Silberzweig were standout performers for Yale, going undefeated in the epee and the saber respectively.Â
With a 4-1 day, Yale improves to 19-1 this season.
