NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's lacrosse team begins a busy stretch by hosting Penn on Saturday at noon at Reese Stadium. It's the start of a four-games-in-11-days stretch for the Bulldogs, who play at Boston University next Tuesday, at Dartmouth on Apr. 13 and at Hofstra on Apr. 16. The Yale-Penn game will be televised on NESN and streamed on ESPN+.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• The Bulldogs (6-2, 2-1 Ivy) have won two straight games and four of their last five. They are ranked No. 10 nationally by Inside Lacrosse and No. 11 by the USILA.

• Yale is coming off a 16-10 victory at Brown last Saturday. Leading just 4-3 after the first quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Bears 4-1 in the second and 7-4 in the third to seize control.

• It was a record-breaking day for
Matt Brandau, who scored four goals, including one midway through the second quarter that made him Yale's all-time leading goal scorer. His 177 career goals are three more than three-time All-American and 2018 Tewaaraton Award winner Ben Reeves '18.

• Brandau will be taking aim at two more school records on Saturday. His 311 career points are five shy of Reeves' school record, and his 134 career assists are eight fewer than Reeves' all-time Yale mark.

• Brandau is the national leader in points per game (6.5) and assists per game (3.63).

• In his last three games, Brandau has scored 12 goals and has 17 points.

Machado Rodriguez has excelled in the X this season. In his last two games, he was won 28-of-35 faceoffs. Rodriguez's .665 faceoff percentage for the season leads the Ivy League and is second in the nation. In Saturday's win over Brown, he turned two of his face-off wins into goals. Rodriguez also is the national leader in ground balls per game (11.0).

• Both Brandau and Rodriguez were named Inside Lacrosse Midseason Media All-Americans.

• Rodriguez and
Nicholas Ramsey, who has won 50-of-77 faceoffs this season, have Yale leading the nation in face-off winning percentage (.658).

Carson Kuhl has scored at least one goal in all eight games this season and at least two in each of the last five games.

• Five Bulldogs have at least 10 goals on the season.

• Yale is second in the nation in scoring offense (16.5 goals per game). The Bulldogs trail only Notre Dame (16.57).

• Yale and Penn played a thriller last year at Franklin Field. Tynan Walsh's goal with 1:17 left in the fourth quarter was the game-winner in a 17-16 Quaker victory.

• The last three regular season games between teams have been decided by one goal. Yale won 12-11 in 2022 and the Quakers took the 2019 matchup 13-12 in triple overtime in Philly.

The Quakers (7-3, 3-0 Ivy) are coming off a thrilling 11-10, double overtime victory over Cornell last Saturday. Cam Rubin scored the winning goal. He was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, while goalkeeper Emmet Carroll, who made 17 saves, was the Defensive Player of the Week. Carroll leads the league in goals against average (9.64). Rubin tops the team with 20 goals, while Tynan Walsh has a team-best 15 assists. Penn, which also has a win over then No. 1 Duke in its resume, is ranked No. 12 nationally by Inside Lacrosse and No. 13 by the USILA.
