No. 8 Bulldogs Set to Play No. 10 Penn for Ivy Tourney Championship Sunday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A rematch of the 2023 Ivy League Tournament Championship Game is on deck for the No. 8 Yale women's lacrosse team, as the Bulldogs face No. 10 Penn Sunday in the 2024 edition (12:00 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats, Tickets). The winner receives the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. 
 
Last year Penn edged Yale 15-14 in overtime for the Ivy Tournament title.

Yale (14-2, 7-0 Ivy League) beat No. 23 Harvard 14-10 in the Ivy League Tournament Semis Friday night at Reese Stadium. The Bulldogs got eight goals from junior attacker Jenna Collignon (Hinsdale, Ill.), tying the tournament single-game record.
 
Yale's Ivy League Tournament History
This is the 13th installment of the Ivy League Tournament since 2010. This is Yale's third appearance in the tournament. Yale is the No. 1 seed for the first time.   
Among Yale's Best
Yale's 14 wins this season are tied for the most in school history (1978, 1979, 1995, 1999, 2003). The Bulldogs won the Ivy League Championship outright for the first time, finishing the regular season 7-0 in Ivy games.

NCAA Tournament
NCAA Tournament selections for 2024 will be announced Sunday, May 5 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The 29 team field includes 15 automatic qualifiers and 14 at-large selections. The 15 conferences with automatic bids include:

The three top overall seeds earn a first-round bye, with the remaining 26 teams playing first-round games at campus sites on Friday May 10 (between 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.). The second round (May 12) and quarterfinal round (May 16) take place at campus sites as well.

The semifinals and championship game will be played on May 24 and 26 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Yale's NCAA Tournament History
Yale has made three appearances in the NCAA Tournament in school history, posting a 1-3 record.
  • 1984: Lost vs. UMass 6-5 in OT in first round
  • 2003: Won vs. Syracuse 12-7 in first round; lost at Loyola (Md.) 13-7 in quarterfinals
  • 2007: Lost at Maryland 13-7 in first round
Scouting Penn
Penn (13-3, 5-2 Ivy League) advanced to the Ivy League Tournament Championship with an 18-14 win vs. No. 2 seed Princeton in the semis Friday night. The Quakers have won five in a row since falling to Yale 16-8 on Apr. 7.
