Levy ‘25 Named Top 30 NCAA Woman of the Year Honoree

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Mia Levy '25 from Yale women's crew added another accolade to her sensational career as she was named to the national Top 30 honoree list for the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, the association revealed on Wednesday.

Established in 1991, the award is rooted in Title IX and recognizes female student-athletes who have completed their undergraduate studies and distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics throughout their college careers.

Levy is one of 30 national honorees across all three NCAA divisions recognized for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. The selection committee will next choose three finalists from each division, for a total of nine. From those nine finalists, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year.

One of the most outstanding student-athletes in program history, Levy achieved excellence both academically and athletically throughout her whole career at Yale. Most recently, in 2025, she was honored as the CRCA Division I Athlete of the Year and served as a vital member of the first varsity boat that led Yale to its first NCAA Championship title since 2010. Throughout the spring, the crew also earned impressive wins including Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Radcliffe.

Levy has demonstrated leadership both on the water and in the classroom. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, she served as a team captain for the Bulldogs during the 2024–25 season. She also co-led Yale's Athlete Ally chapter and worked as a peer writing tutor at both the Poorvu Center and the Yale Prison Education Initiative. Outside of Yale, she interned with the New Haven Public Schools' HR department, where she helped develop a mentorship program for educators of color.

Levy most recently competed for the United States in the women's eight at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, China. Her international accomplishments include being honored as the 2023 USRowing U23 National Team Female Athlete of the Year following a gold medal performance with the U.S. women's eight at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships. In 2021, she also earned a gold medal from the five seat in the U.S. women's eight at the World Rowing Junior Championships.
