Men's, Women's Squash Set to Begin 2025-26 Season Against Virginia

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's and women's squash teams are set to kick off the 2025-26 campaign on Sunday, November 16 against Virginia at home.

Looking Back
Both Bulldogs squads enter the season with high expectations following a very successful run in 2024-25. The men's team finished as national runners-up, falling to Penn in the CSA Finals. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 10-3 record. Last season, Tad Carney reached the CSA Individual semifinals and asserted himself as one of the top players in the country. Carney, Arav Bhagwati, and Lachlan Sutton all earned CSA All-America accolades.

The women's team finished with a 6-8 record overall, with each loss coming to teams ranked in the top 10 nationally. At the CSA Team Championships, the Bulldogs topped Columbia before falling to national runner-up Harvard. First-year Heng Wai Wong had a spectacular debut season, earning CSA All-America honors.

Moving Forward
On the men's side, the Bulldogs return a strong contingent of competitors from last season. In addition to the top three of Carney, Bhagwati, and Sutton, the duo of Rishi Srivastava and Rohan Arya Gondi will be back for their sophomore season. The two combined for a 23-3 record out of the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.

Wong will anchor the women's team in the No. 1 position for the second consecutive season. Fellow sophomore Spring Ma will also be a big contributor after playing in the No. 2 spot last season. Whitney Taylor led the team with nine victories, and she will return for her senior season.

Carney and Taylor will serve as team captains for the men's and women's squads, respectively.

New Faces
The Bulldogs welcome four newcomers on the women's side: Alyssa Ho, Elise Kang, Eedha Mehta, and Swetha Sivakumar. Oliver Velasco will join the men's team.

New Format
For the first time, the Ivy League Championship will be decided by a postseason tournament. The top four squads will compete for the conference title. The host site will be determined by the top team in the regular season. The tournament will be held on Feb. 21-22.

The CSA Individual Championships will once again take place during the regular season. The championship event will be hosted in New York City from Jan. 23-27. The CSA Team Championships will be held March 5-8 in Philadelphia.
