NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The College Squash Association (CSA) has announced its year-end awards. Four Bulldogs earned All-America honors.
Tad Carney,
Lachlan Sutton, and
Heng Wai Wong landed a spot on the first team, while
Arav Bhagwati earned a second team selection.
This year's honorees represent 10 different CSA member institutions, highlighting the competitive depth and talent across college squash. All-American selections recognize the top student-athletes who have demonstrated exceptional performance throughout both the regular season and the championship events. All men's and women's players must compete in at least 50% of their team's matches and compete in the Individual Championships in order to be considered for All-American status. Placement on the All-American teams is primarily based on the final individual rankings of the season (following Individual Championships). The winners of each of the four draws of the Holleran division at Individual Championships will be named Second Team All-Americans.
Carney earned All-American accolades for the second consecutive year. He was a fixture at the No. 1 position for the men's team, helping the squad reach the CSA Team Championship match. He was named First Team All-Ivy this season and was a CSA All-American as a sophomore. Carney reached the semifinals of the CSA Indvidual Championships before falling to eventual champion, Salman Khalil. He was also named as a CSA Scholar Athlete.
Sutton earned All-American honors for the first time after a fantastic sophomore season out of the No. 3 position. He was 8-4 overall. Bhagwati was named as a Second Team All-American for the second straight season. The junior played at the No. 2 spot, recording an overall record of 7-5. He was also named as CSA Scholar Athlete last month.
On the women's side, first year Heng Wai Wong represented the Bulldogs as the team's lone All-American, earning a spot on the first team. Wong stepped into the No. 1 spot in her debut collegiate season, picking up four wins against the top competition in the country.
All four Bulldogs are expected to return next season.
