NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Mia Levy '25 from Yale women's crew continues to add to her stellar career, garnering NCAA Impact Award honors for her exceptional accomplishments on the water, in the classroom, and in the community, the NCAA announced on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
One of the most accomplished student-athletes in the program's history, Levy excelled both academically and athletically during the 2024–25 season. Levy earned the title of CRCA Division I Athlete of the Year and was a key member of the first varsity boat that captured Yale's first national title since 2010 at the NCAA Championship. During the spring season, that crew also secured wins over top programs including Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Radcliffe.
Levy, a finalist for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, earned All-America recognition for the third consecutive year and was selected to the First Team All-Ivy League for the second year in a row. She was also honored with the Nellie Pratt Elliott Award, presented to the senior woman who best exemplifies athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and the traditions of Yale.
From 2021 to 2024, she earned top rowing honors, including All-Ivy First Team in 2023–24, helping the varsity eight medal at the league championship and compete at the NCAAs. Earlier, she secured gold in the second varsity eight at the Ivy League and NCAA Championships. Throughout her career, she consistently earned academic honors, including CRCA Scholar Athlete and CSC Academic All-District selections.
Levy has demonstrated leadership both on the water and in the classroom. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, she served as a team captain for the Bulldogs during the 2024–25 season. She also co-led Yale's Athlete Ally chapter and worked as a peer writing tutor at both the Poorvu Center and the Yale Prison Education Initiative. Outside of Yale, she interned with the New Haven Public Schools' HR department, where she helped develop a mentorship program for educators of color.
Levy most recently represented the United States in the women's eight at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, China. Her international success also includes being named the 2023 USRowing U23 National Team Female Athlete of the Year after winning gold with the U.S. women's eight at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships. In 2021, she captured another gold medal in the five seat of the U.S. women's eight at the World Rowing Junior Championships.
