NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior forward
Poppy Beales (King's Lynn, England) of the Yale field hockey team has been named second team All-ECAC. The ECAC announced the awards Friday.
Beales captained Yale to a historic season. The Bulldogs, who ended the year ranked No. 12 in the NFHCA national poll, earned their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their first appearance in the Ivy League Tournament. Yale won 12 games, tied for third-most in school history.
Beales has been racking up awards, having already been named first team All-Mideast Region for the third time and first team All-Ivy League for the third time along with being selected to the NFHCA Senior Team. She finished fourth in the Ivy League with a career-high 12 goals.
Beales ranks seventh on Yale's career goals list (31) and 10th on Yale's career points list (65). She started 50 games in a row at the end of her career.
Beales is a graduate of Framlingham College.
There were 22 All-ECAC honorees selected this year at the Division I level. That included four other Ivy League players.
Founded in 1938, the ECAC is an organization with more than 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions.
