DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – The Yale women's golf team is set to open its 2025 season at the Daniel Island Invitational, heading south for its first test of the spring.
 
A Look Back at Last Season

• The Bulldogs delivered a strong performance at the Ivy League Championships, finishing second (901)—just two strokes behind champion Dartmouth (899).
• Their runner-up finish marked an improvement from 2023, when they placed fourth as a team.
• Joanne Lee was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
• Two Bulldogs earned All-Ivy honors: Mia Sessa (First Team) and Sophie Simon (Second Team).

Coach's Outlook
"The energy and excitement heading into this season are high," said Lauren Harling Austin, Liu Family Head Coach. "Our team has remained focused and motivated this offseason. We've got a great lineup of events this spring, and I expect our entire roster to contribute. This week at Daniel Island will mark first-year Ellie Koo's debut in our lineup—an important step in her experience bank. This season is all about building momentum, and we're eager to start strong in South Carolina."
 
The 2025 Bulldogs

• Senior Alexis Kim was elected team captain. "She has been a steady force within our squad and the Ivy League for years," said Harling Austin. "Her leadership, growth, and genuine love for her teammates are qualities we all admire."
• Upperclassmen core: Senior Sophie Simon and juniors Mia Sessa and Ashley Yen return to the lineup.
• Sophomores: Reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year Joanne Lee and Selena Tang look to build on strong debut seasons.
• Newcomers: The Bulldogs welcome first-years Ellie Koo (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) and Katie Ha (Los Angeles, Calif.).

 
First Challenge: Daniel Island Invitational

• Hosted by the College of Charleston, the tournament features 14 teams, including five nationally ranked programs.
• The two-day, 54-hole tournament runs from Monday, Feb. 24, to Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the par-72, 6,206-yard Daniel Island Club Golf Course.
• Tee Times:Monday: 8:45 a.m. shotgun start, Tuesday: 9 a.m. shotgun start

Yale will compete against Campbell (47), Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston (48), Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Georgia State, James Madison, UNC Charlotte, NC State (45), Oral Roberts, Tennessee (37), and Virginia Tech (46). (National rankings in parentheses.)

Looking Ahead
