STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Yale women's golf team wrapped competition at the Nittany Lion Invitational and the Happy Valley Individual, both hosted at the Penn State Golf Course.
In a competitive field, the Bulldogs finished tied for sixth with Quinnipiac at even par over the three-round, two-day event. Three Power Four schools finished in the top four, with Virginia Tech claiming first, Maryland finishing second, and Penn State tying for third.
"Starting this season on the road was a great way to set the tone for our team this year. We saw some great play and a lot of encouraging moments to build on as we set our focus on the rest of the season," said
Lauren Austin, Liu Family Head Coach of Women's Golf.
In her first collegiate tournament,
Hanny Wang put on a strong showing, setting a new Yale 54-hole record for score relative to par. Wang finished the tournament at 207 (-9).
"Hanny had a phenomenal start to her career with her second-place finish. Her steadiness and determination to compete at the highest level was apparent and really exciting to see."
As a team, the Bulldogs also set a new program record for team score relative to par over 54 holes, finishing at even par and surpassing the previous mark of +2, set at the Princeton Invitational in September 2022.

The Bulldogs will return to action Sept. 21-22 at Blue Hills Country Club in Canton, Mass., for the Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Boston College.
