PROVIDENCE, R.I. –The Yale men's swimming and diving team continued its impressive performance at the Ivy League Championship on Thursday, highlighted by gold medal victories from
Noah Millard in the 500 free,
Nick Finch in the 50 free, and the 200 free relay team.
After two days of competition, Yale is in first with 486.5 points, followed by Princeton in second with 407.5, and Harvard in third with 360.5.
Notable Performances
- 200 yard IM: Alexander Hazlett kicked off the day with a strong swim in the prelims, breaking the team record with a time of 1:44.36. He then finished eighth in the A final with a time of 1:44.76.
- 200 yard IM: Jake Wang won the B final with a team record time of 1:44.10.
- 500 yard free: Millard had a sensational swim in the A final, winning gold in the event with a time of 4:07.68. The time is a team record, pool record, and was an NCAA A standard time. He is also the ninth fastest performer in the history of the event, and it is the second fastest time in the nation this year.
- 500 yard free: Arshak Hambardzumyan finished fourth in the A final with a time of 4:19.39.
- 50 yard free: Finch was stellar in the A final, winning gold in the event with a pool record time of 19.07, which is also the second fastest in meet history.
- 50 yard free: Nankov finished fourth in the A final with a time of 19.49.
- 1M dive: Jackson Lipscomb finished sixth (312.45), and Nicholas Chau was seventh (300.00)
- 200 yard free relay: The quartet of Finch, Nankov, Lucius Brown, and Millard wrapped up the night in spectacular fashion, claiming the gold medal with a record-breaking time of 1:16.48 — setting new pool, team, and meet records while also achieving an NCAA A standard mark.
