PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Yale men's swimming and diving team continued to shine at the Ivy League Championship on Friday, earning a total of seven medals, with standout gold medal wins by
Arshak Hambardzumyan in the 1000 freestyle and
Nick Finch in the 100 butterfly.
After three days of competition, Yale is in third with 836.5 points. Princeton moved into first with 847.5, and Harvard is in second with 846.5.
Notable Performances
- 100 yard butterfly: Finch had a stellar swim in the morning prelims, breaking the school and pool record with a time of 45.36. The first-year then followed up with a sensational gold-medal finish in the A final, breaking the Ivy League record, meet record, pool record, and team record with a time of 44.57.
- 1000 yard freestyle: Hambardzumyan had a strong gold-medal finish in the A final with a time of 8:51.82.
- 400 yard IM: Jed Jones had an eighth place finish in the A final with a time of 3:47.88.
- 200 yard freestyle: Noah Millard had a silver-medal finish in the A final with a team record time of 1:31.86.
- 100 yard breaststroke: Charlie Egeland finished sixth (52.58), and Alexander Hazlett was eighth (52.96) in the A final.
- 3M dive: Nicholas Chau finished 10th (330.00), Brady Stanton was 11th (314.90), and Jackson Lipscomb was 12th (303.00) in the B final.
- 400 yard medley relay: The quartet of Manoli Mountantonakis, Egeland, Millard, Finch closed out the night with a silver-medal finish in a team record time of 3:06.43.
