BOSTON -- A small group from the Yale men's track and field team headed up to Harvard for the Crimson Elite meet Friday. The Bulldogs had the opportunity to compete against many Ivy League rivals and set some solid marks as they begin to build momentum as the championship season approaches.
 
The Meet:

• The throws group tested themselves out in the weight throw. Junior Nolan Recker battled it out for the win but fell just short; his fifth-round mark of 20.16 meters placed second behind UConn's Travis Roux (20.25). Classmate Jake Sun had a consistent run of throws, with his best mark being 17.84 meters.
• There was strong competition in the long jump. Junior Isiah Udofia had his best attempt in the last round, jumping a mark of 7.23 meters and placing seventh. UAlbany's Simone Menchini (7.62m) won.
• On the track, the short sprinters put on a performance. Junior Andrew Farr and senior Cristian Pereira had a close battle in the same heat in the 60 meters, with Farr coming out on top with a time of 6.93 seconds to Pereira's 6.94. Elsewhere, senior Kit Colson fought well to run 6.97 seconds.
• Farr doubled back in the 400 meters to place first in his heat with a very fast time of 49.03 seconds as he continues his season-long progression.

• The Bulldogs are straight back in action on Saturday at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite taking place at BU. The fast track always provides an opportunity to rewrite the top 10 marks list, which is something the Bulldogs will be aiming to do. The action kicks off with the 60m at 11:35 a.m.
