West Coast Showdown at No. 8 Stanford Coming Up Sunday

Fallon Vaughn (shown here) had a goal and three assists last year vs. Stanford.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the first time in five years, the No. 4 Yale women's lacrosse team has a game in California – and a tough opponent awaits. The Bulldogs play at No. 8 Stanford Sunday at 1:00 p.m. PT (ACCNX, Live Stats). The Cardinal is one of three teams currently ranked in the top 11 that Yale will play in the next four games. No. 11 Princeton (Mar. 29) and No. 6 Syracuse (Apr. 2) are the others.

How to Watch
  • Sunday's game is on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX). To watch, you need a subscription to a pay-TV provider (cable, satellite, telco or streaming service) that carries ACC Network. The video stream can be accessed through the ESPN app or Watch ESPN by clicking here and using your provider credentials.
Last Game
  • Yale beat No. 25 UConn 17-8 Wednesday in Storrs, Conn.
  • The Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run after UConn closed to within 8-7 with 10:04 left in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs
  • Yale (7-0, 1-0 Ivy League) has never trailed in a game this season. The Bulldogs have led by as many as 10 goals at one point in five of their seven games.
  • Yale is one of four undefeated teams in the country. No. 1 Boston College (9-0), No. 2 North Carolina (7-0) and No. 19 Ohio State (7-0) are the others.
  • The Bulldogs' longest active streaks are:
    • Consecutive games with at least one goal, consecutive games with at least one point: senior attacker Jenna Collignon (Hinsdale, Ill.), 25
    • Consecutive games with a hat trick: Collignon, senior midfielder Sky Carrasquillo (Alpharetta, Ga.), 3
    • Consecutive games with at least one assist: sophomore attacker Ashley Kiernan (Chatham, N.J.), 2
    • Consecutive games played, consecutive starts: Senior midfielder Fallon Vaughn (Concord, Mass.) and senior midfielder Taylor Lane (Norwalk, Conn.), 61
  • Carrasquillo is three points away from 100 for her career. Senior attacker Taylor Everson (Montclair, N.J.) is six points away from that same milestone.
  • Yale is off to a 7-0 start this season. Last season the Bulldogs started 9-0 before suffering their first loss. That tied for the longest winning streak to start a season in school history – the 1995 team also started 9-0.
  • Yale's last game in California was a 13-12 overtime win at Fresno State Mar. 12, 2020.
  • Yale was recently featured in USA Lacrosse Magazine.

The Series
  • Yale has won two of three in the series against Stanford, including last season's 13-12 Bulldog win at Reese Stadium.
  • The two teams met Apr. 1, 2017 at Reese as part of a memorable day. The Bulldogs upset the Cardinal, ranked No. 19 in the nation at the time, 15-12. That was the second game of the day for Yale; the Bulldogs beat Sacred Heart 17-5 earlier. That was Yale's second doubleheader in 37 years.
  • Yale's only trip to Stanford came in 2005. The Cardinal won that game, 9-8.

The Cardinal
  • Stanford (7-1, 2-1 ACC), in its first season in the ACC, is 3-1 against ranked opponents.
  • The Cardinal's only loss was 14-13 in double overtime at Syracuse Mar. 7, when the Orange was ranked No. 10 (tie) in the nation.
  • Stanford has won 18 straight home games, the longest such streak in the nation right now. Yale (16 straight home wins) is second. The Cardinal's last home loss was vs. then-No. 13 Virginia, 14-11, on Feb. 10, 2023.
  • Stanford defender Kate Bellissimo is the older sister of Yale first-year defender Maggie Bellissimo (Darien, Conn.).
