Murray Promoted to Full-Time Assistant for Women’s Soccer

NEW HAVEN, Conn.Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer, has announced the promotion of Jonathan Murray to a full-time assistant coach position. Murray joined the Yale women's soccer program as a volunteer coach in February 2023.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Jonathan transition into a full-time role with our program," said Martinez. "His commitment to Yale Women's Soccer over the last year has been felt by everyone involved. He has an incredible ability to build relationships, is a tireless worker, and possesses a soccer IQ that aligns with our program's vision. This is an exciting time for YWS, and I have no doubt that with Jonathan in this new role, we will continue to elevate the program."

Murray brings collegiate coaching experience from his time as an assistant coach at the University of New Haven, where he spent three seasons, and Western New England University. At the club level, he worked for Vale Soccer Club in Middletown, Conn., serving as the head coach of the Girls 2007s.

"I am so excited and grateful to Sarah for the opportunity to move into a full-time role with YWS," said Murray. "Though I've only been with the program for a year, I've already seen the tremendous progress we've made—and will continue to make. Our team has no limit to the success we can achieve, and I'm eager to keep building this program alongside our players and staff."

In addition to coaching, Murray is a certified occupational therapist through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

He earned both his undergraduate degree in occupational science and his graduate degree in occupational therapy from American International College in Springfield, Mass., where he was a member of the men's soccer program. While at AIC, Murray was awarded the John "Homer" Miller Award, which recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities and a commitment to the AIC community.
