NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The weather didn't dampen the Yale men's track and field team's spirits for the 127th HYOC meet Saturday at Cuyler Athletic Complex, Dwyer Track and Frank Field. The Bulldogs teamed up with Harvard to take on the Achilles Squad of Oxford and Cambridge. The men put up a strong challenge, but the Achilles Club showed their class in taking first with 11 points compared to Harvard and Yale's eight points. Combined with the women's scores, though, the Harvard-Yale team won the meet 22-15.

- In the hammer throw junior Nolan Recker placed second with his throw of 56.70 meters in the fourth round. Sophomore Chu Anueyiagu set a new PR of 50.23 meters to place fourth.
- On the track, sophomore Jack Diaz made his steeplechase debut. He braved the cold conditions to put out a solid performance for the Elis.
- The 1500 meters was a tactical affair with sophomore Guy Stevens moving through the field to place fourth overall in 3:58.
- Sophomore Nathan Lebowitz and Recker placed first and second respectively in the discus throw. Lebowitz was just outside a PR with his mark of 52.17 meters.
- In the 400 meters the Bulldogs swept the top three. Sophomore Finnegan Quinn narrowly beat senior Simon Jupp; they ran 49.84 and 49.87 respectively. First year Camden Hickox placed third in 51.49.
- Junior Mason Evans had a strong showing in the 100 meters. Despite the cold conditions he ran a solid 11.09, placing third.
- In a tactical 800 meters, first year Matthew Schutzbank closed well to place third in 1:58.
- Senior James Grindle and sophomore Lucas Mylon placed first and second in the 200 meters. Grindle ran a strong race to come home with a time of 21.71 seconds.
- First year Seb Sutch braved the cold rain for his 5,000 meter debut. He made a smart move to kick away and place second overall.
- In the 4x100 meter relay the Harvard and Yale team took home the win. Sophomore Andrew Fu was a key member of this team that ran 42.28 seconds.
Up Next:
- The Bulldogs head into another busy week with a small squad headed to the Wake Forest Invitational that takes place on Apr. 18. This will give the distance squads another opportunity to run fast. At home the Mark Young Invitational takes place on Apr. 19. Plenty of Bulldogs will be in action as the season continues to ramp up.
