Vaughn Named a Tewaaraton Nominee

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior midfielder Fallon Vaughn (Concord, Mass.) of the Yale women's lacrosse team has been named a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award. The Tewaaraton committee announced the selections Thursday. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top female college lacrosse player in the United States. The nominee list includes 25 players.

Vaughn, who was among the 50 players selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in February, has been honored multiple times already this season. She was a first team Preseason All-America selection by USA Lacrosse and the ILWomen media. She was also a Midseason All-America selection by the ILWomen media. She is fourth in the Ivy League in caused turnovers (17) and seventh in the league in goals (32). She has earned the league's Defensive Player of the Week Award twice. Vaughn leads Yale in ground balls (22), is second on the team in points (32-14-46) and is fourth on the team in draw controls (25).

Last year Vaughn earned All-America honors from ILWomen (second team), the IWLCA (second team) and USA Lacrosse (third team). She was named Ivy League Midfielder of the Year, becoming the first Yale player to win one of the Ivy League's major annual awards since Lauren Taylor '08 was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2007. She also was a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection.

Vaughn is a graduate of Concord-Carlisle High.

Yale, ranked No. 6 in the national media poll, plays at No. 22 Harvard Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
