No. 5 Bulldogs Set for Ivy League Championship

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 5 Yale women's crew team is set to compete at the Ivy League Championship this weekend, hosted by Princeton at Cooper River in Pennsauken, New Jersey.
 
Action kicks off with heats on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 4 p.m. Finals will then take place on Sunday, May 18, starting at 8 a.m.
 
"We are excited to see where we stand with our league," said Friends of YWC Head Coach Will Porter. "The Ivy League seems to be the deepest league in the country again this year with seven teams ranked in the top 25. We look forward to testing our speed against the league."

  • The Bulldogs enter postseason action after wrapping up a stellar regular season this spring, picking up sweeps over Ohio State, Rutgers, Cornell, Syracuse, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Harvard-Radcliffe.
  • Captain Mia Levy and Maya Meschkuleit were tabbed 2025 CRCA Athletes to Watch in late February.
  • Yale's regular season was highlighted by the sweep over No. 4 Princeton, as the first varsity eight reclaimed the Eisenburg Cup, bringing it back to New Haven. The Bulldogs and Tigers raced at Lake Carnegie on Apr. 19, and the boat crossed the line 3.5 seconds ahead of Princeton (6:07.3) at 6:03.8.
 
Last Time Out
  • Battling rainy conditions, the Bulldogs continued their impressive season as the first varsity boat claimed the Case Cup for the 12th straight year with a dominant open water victory over Harvard-Radcliffe on the Charles River.
  • Yale was also strong across the board, securing the sweep with wins in the second varsity, third varsity, varsity four, and second varsity four events. The Bulldogs also defeated Boston University in the third varsity four and third varsity races.
 
Ivy League Championship Rewind
  • Last season, the Bulldogs had a strong showing as all five crews medaled, and Yale was second for the NCAA automatic qualifier with 39 points and third in the overall team title with 71 points.
  • Yale's second varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity four all finished second, while the varsity eight and third varsity eight each placed third.
  • Princeton earned the Ivy League title by winning the varsity eight grand final. The Tigers also captured the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship (44 points), and the team points title (82 points).
  • The Bulldogs went on to receive one of 11 at-large bids to the NCAA Championship, which took place at East Fork/Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio.

The NCAA Championship will take place on Friday, May 30 through Sunday, June 1 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
