NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Friends of YWC Head Coach
Will Porter has announced that junior
Harriet Drake-Lee will serve as captain for the Bulldogs next season.
"Harriet is a talented athlete who will be a physical leader, said Porter. "She knows the standard required to be successful as a team, and I have not doubt she will be a great captain."
Drake-Lee, a CRCA First Team All-American, competed in the Bulldogs' first varsity eight, which made history by winning Yale's first national title since 2010 at the NCAA Championship, setting a championship record with a time of 6:06.138. She was also named a Second Team All-Ivy honoree after that crew earned a silver medal at the Ivy League Championship. Additionally, that boat picked up victories over Michigan, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Harvard-Radcliffe.
Drake-Lee has also excelled on the international stage, winning a gold medal in the Great Britain eight at the 2024 U23 World Championships.
"I love being a part of Yale Women's Crew, and I'm honored to be elected captain for this upcoming year, said Drake-Lee. "I can't wait to lead a new team that is full of energy and momentum from our successful season last year. I'm confident in this year's team's ability to find even more speed by working hard, going fast and having fun."
