NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale men's basketball forward
Nick Townsend earned a spot on the USA roster that will compete in the 3x3 basketball tournament at the 2025 FISU World University Games, set to take place at the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum, Germany this July.
The USA squad, which features four Ivy League student-athletes on the men's team, will report to Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 12 for a training camp before departing for Germany on July 15. The team will take part in the opening ceremonies on July 16, with 3x3 competition beginning July 17. Teams will compete in pool play, with the top finishers from each group advancing to the tournament.
Townsend, Yale's 2025-26 captain, is coming off an stellar season that earned him First Team All-Ivy honors. The rising senior started all 30 games, averaging 15.4 points per game, which ranked second on the team. He also scored in double figures in 27 games and led the Ivy League with seven double doubles. Additionally, Townsend led the team in rebounds, averaging 7.1 per game.
