NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's tennis team will begin its fall schedule this weekend with the Chowderfest Invitational hosted by Harvard, while
Vignesh Gogineni will also compete at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
"I am very excited to get this season started and see what we can accomplish together, said Eduardo Ugalde, Interim Head Coach of Men's Tennis. "This is a special group. We have a core of experienced, talented players who have been working incredibly hard, and they are hungry. Adding to that, the energy and skill the new guys have injected into our program is remarkable. We can't wait to start competing."

Chowderfest Breakdown
Four Bulldogs are set to compete in the Invitational, running from Friday, Sept. 19, through Sunday, Sept. 21.
ITA All-American Championships
Gogineni earned a direct entry into the tournament after being ranked No. 33 in the country in singles and will represent the Bulldogs. Only the top 42 players receive automatic qualification. The Captain
The Bulldogs are led this season by captain
Eric Li, who recorded nine wins in singles and 10 in doubles last season. He also earned a thrilling three-set victory during day two action at the ITA East Sectional Championships in November. Additionally, in 2023–24, he compiled an impressive 21-9 singles record, including a 4-2 mark in Ivy League play.
Li has also distinguished himself academically, earning CSC Academic All-District honors and is a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.
New Year, New Faces
Ugalde welcomed three newcomers to the Yale roster this fall.
Ethan Chung,
Troy Kudrjavtsev, and
Varun Verma all bring strong credentials both on and off the court and look to make their debuts this season.
Serving Up Scholar-Athlete Honors
The Bulldogs capped off their 2024–25 season with distinction, earning ITA All-Academic Team honors. In addition, 11 team members were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Programs qualify for ITA All-Academic recognition by achieving a team GPA of 3.2 or higher, including all student-athletes listed on the institutional eligibility form, with all varsity letter winners counted in the cumulative GPA for the academic year. To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
