Bulldogs Set for ESPNU-Televised Clash at Penn

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Coming off an undefeated weekend at home, the Yale men's basketball team looks to continue its winning ways, hitting the road to face Penn on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. on ESPNU.

Last Time Out
  • Four Bulldogs tallied double figures as Yale completed a perfect weekend at home, taking down Columbia, 91–74, on Monday afternoon at John J. Lee Amphitheater.
  • After Columbia briefly moved in front 14-13 with 12:01 remaining in the first half, Yale responded with nine consecutive points, all from beyond the arc, to take a 22-14 advantage. 
  •  The Bulldogs stayed in control the rest of the half and carried a 44-35 lead into the break. Yale's hot shooting continued after halftime, tallying a 9-0 run highlighted by four points from Samson Aletan to push the margin to 18, 57-39, at the 15:34 mark.

  • After the Quakers tallied a three to take a 71-69 lead with 1:48 to go, Celiscar countered with the next three points, capped by the game-winning layup with eight seconds remaining.
  • He then secured the win by stealing the ball from Penn with four seconds left, putting the game out of reach for good.
  • The Bulldogs capitalized off Penn turnovers, scoring 12 points off those miscues.

Scouting the Quakers
  • Penn enters the matchup with a 9-8 overall record (2-2 Ivy).
  • The Quakers are coming off a 64-63 loss at Harvard on Monday.
  • In the loss, the game was tied at 54 with three minutes left and then the Crimson scored on five straight possessions to go up 64-59 and held on.
  • Ethan Roberts led the scoring for Penn with a game-high 27 points, giving him 99 in four Ivy League games so far (24.7 ppg); he shot 9-of-15 from the field, hit three of seven three-point attempts, and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
  • In addition to Roberts, TJ Power leads the Quaker offense, and earned his second Big 5 Player of the Week honor after scoring 27 points in a 84-74 victory at Dartmouth on Saturday.
  • Penn was predicted to finish seventh in the Ivy League Preseason Poll with 66 points.
  • The Bulldogs have won the last four matchups against Penn.
