NEW YORK – The Yale women's track and field team opened competition at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, hosted by Columbia at The Armory, on Friday. This meet gives the Bulldogs a chance to test themselves against some of the top competition in the region, including Ivy League opponents Brown, Columbia, Cornell and Harvard (second at indoor Heps last year). The meet concludes Saturday.
Notable Performances:
Hurdles
- Junior Lucija Grd placed second in the 60m hurdles. Grd won heat one of the prelims with a time of 8.50, then clocked a time of 8.47 in the finals. She trailed only Harvard's Fabiola Belibi, the 2025 indoor Heps champion, whose time was 8.44. Grd continues to challenge her own school record of 8.43. She has been within .04 of that mark three times in the last seven days.
Middle-Distance
- Sophomore Zoe Martonfi finished ninth in the 3K (9:38.31). In just her second 3K as a collegian, she shaved nearly 30 seconds off her previous time (10:04.17 at the YDC meet on Jan. 18, 2025).
Throws
- Senior Makayla Harris took sixth in the weight throw (16.88m). She improved on her mark from last weekend's YDC meet by .88m.
