PRINCETON, N.J. – Libby Peoples of the Yale softball team has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week following a standout opening weekend in Tampa.
Peoples returned to the lineup this past weekend for the first time in 357 days after an injury sidelined her for nearly a year — and made an immediate impact. She started all five games against Boston College, South Florida, Kansas, Indiana State, and DePaul, batting .615 (8-for-15) with a .769 slugging percentage, a .643 on-base percentage, and a 1.412 OPS. She totaled two RBI, one run scored, a triple, and a stolen base.
Against DePaul, Peoples turned in a perfect 4-for-4 performance with a run scored and an RBI.
In Yale's 2-0 victory over Boston College, she went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored to help secure the program's first Power Four win since 1995.
The Bulldogs return to action this weekend, traveling to Atlanta, Ga., for a five-game slate against Georgia State, Georgia Tech, and the College of Charleston.
