PRINCETON, N.J. – A gold medal for the 400-yard medley relay team and
Nick Finch in the 100-yard butterfly were the highlights for a strong evening from the Yale men's swimming and diving team, producing five top-three finishes for the Bulldogs on the third day of the Ivy League Championships at DeNunzio Pool.
Finch broke the Ivy League record in the 100 fly twice in one day, once during his prelim heat early in the day, and once more to win the gold in the evening. The 400-yard medley relay team also broke the Ivy League record en route to its gold medal.
After three days of competition, the Bulldogs are second behind Princeton (952) with 874.5 points.
The Results
- 1000-yard Freestyle: Millard delivered another record-breaking performance, taking silver in the event with a Yale record time of 8:45.38.
- 100-yard Butterfly: Finch set a new Ivy record in prelims (44.49) before breaking it again in the finals, taking home the gold with a record time of 44.34 (NCAA A cut)
- 200-yard Freestyle: Lars Kuljus and Deniel Nankov delivered solid performances, coming in fourth (1:34.90) and seventh (1:35.57) place respectively.
- 100-yard Breaststroke: Charlie Egeland (52.18) and Jake Wang (52.21) rounded out the podium in the event, taking silver and bronze respectively, and each recorded NCAA A cuts.
- 3M Dive: Nicholas Chau placed ninth overall (334.35) and Brady Stanton was 10th (331.40), and Jackson Lipscomb was 17th (282.45)
- 400-yard Medley Relay: Wang, Egeland, Finch and Nankov took gold with a new Ivy record of 1:16.41. Wang's opening 100 backstroke leg of the relay also set a new Yale record, clocking in at 46.11.
