Yale-Brown Saturday Afternoon in Providence

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team (5-15, 1-6 Ivy League) plays at Brown Saturday (2:00 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Audio, Live Stats, Tickets). With seven games left in the regular season, the Bears sit in fourth place in the Ivy League standings at 4-3 – positioning them to be one of the four teams that make the Ivy League Tournament. The Bulldogs are three games back of Brown.

Last Game
A large early deficit proved too much for Yale to overcome against Dartmouth at Leede Arena last Saturday night as the Bulldogs fell 77-59. Yale had four double-digit scorers: sophomore guard Ciniya Moore (Bradenton, Fla.) (17 points), sophomore guard Ke'iara Odume (Syracuse, N.Y.) (14), sophomore guard Marisa Chapman (Middletown, N.Y.) (13) and junior forward Mary Meng (Grafton, Ohio) (11).

Improved Accuracy
Yale's shooting percentages on field goals, three pointers and free throws have all improved this season as compared to last season. There has also been a corresponding increase in assists per game. Here are the numbers:

Senior forward Kiley Capstraw (West Orange, N.J.), Yale's captain, ranks third in the Ivy League in assists per game (4.1), eighth in the Ivy League in steals per game (1.7) and ninth in the Ivy League in rebounds per game (6.3). She is the only player in the league to appear in the top 10 in all three of those categories.

Moore Among Ivy's Top Three Scorers
Sophomore guard Ciniya Moore (Bradenton, Fla.) ranks third in the Ivy League in scoring (16.7 ppg). Moore ranks second in the Ivy League in free throw percentage (.862). The last Yale player to rank among the Ivy League's top three in scoring for a season was Roxy Barahman '20 in 2019-20. Barahman was third in the league (17.1 ppg) that year.

Meng Controls the Boards
Junior forward Mary Meng (Grafton, Ohio) is averaging 8.7 rebounds per game, which would rank second in the league if she qualified (Meng has not played enough games).

Among Yale's Best
With 38 blocks this season, first-year forward Dorka Kastl (Budapest, Hungary) has cracked Yale's single-season top 10. Her total ranks 10th, two behind the total that is tied for eighth (40, by Erica Davis '07 in 2003-04 and Brenna McDonald '04 in 2023-24). The school record is 63, set by Davis in 2006-07. Kastl is 12th nationally and first in the Ivy League in blocks per game this year (2.38).

The Foul Line
Yale is 5-6 when committing 18 or fewer personal fouls in a game and 0-9 when committing 19 or more personal fouls in a game.
